In today's newspapers many back-to-school sale flyers from local merchants are tucked inside. They advertise all of the items kids need to start off the school year. Some promote clothes and other school supplies.
One thing is missing from these ads.
Many kids in our area want to start off the school year with a Kinship Partner. A partner who would take the time to hear how school is going and who would be there to go to school activities with them. How great it would be to be able to advertise in a slick, glossy ad for partners for all the kids on our waiting list. Since that is not possible, let me tell you about this week's Child in Need.
Marcus is a special little boy who would love to have a partner. He is 7 and lives in Brainerd with his mother and two older sisters. In the past two years Marcus has seen his father only once because he lives out of state. This fall Marcus will be in second grade. He does well in school and his favorite subjects are math, writing, gym and computers. Some of the activities he enjoys are fishing, watching baseball games, bike riding, swimming and woodcarving.
Marcus would someday like to try golf, wrestling, snowmobiling, and building models. He describes himself as active, shy at first, someone who likes to try new things and sort of a goofball. His mother says, "Marcus is funny, happy, creative and inquisitive." She would like him to have a partner who likes the outdoors, will be a good male influence in his life and will teach him to act like a guy. Marcus says he wants a partner who is funny and active.
So, if you're a man, or a family with boys, Marcus is waiting to be your partner. An adult male will definitely fill a void in his life. This really nice little boy would love to have an adult partner to be part of his back-to-school plans. Won't you make that call today to Kinship Partners at 829-4606 in Brainerd, or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or outside the Brainerd area call 1-877-730-5437 and we will send you an application. You may also visit our website at www.kinship.brainerd.com. Marcus is only one of approximately 50 kids waiting for an adult partner. Kinship encourages you to "Be a Friend...Be a Mentor."
