Tracy Furney, Pine River, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Brainerd Chapter International Association of Administrative Professionals. Furney is a student at Central Lakes College and is in the administration assistance program.
Charles Koob, a 1991 Brainerd High School graduate, graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a degree in behavior arts and science. Koob also was on the dean's list and received honorary recognition on his biography that was published in the 24th annual edition of the National Dean's List that honors America's Outstanding College Students. Koob works at the Brainerd Regional Human Services Center and is owner of Northwoods Rental Properties.
Annie Zauhar, the daughter of Stephen and Lois Zauhar of Baxter; Emily Van Der Hagen, the daughter of Jon and Karen Van Der Hagen of Baxter; and Andrea Hagen, the daughter of Jon and Mary Hagen of Crosslake; were awarded scholarships from the College of St. Benedict for the 2001-02 school year. Zauhar was awarded a $3,500 Dean's Scholarship; Van Der Hagen was awarded a $5,500 President's Scholarship; and Hagen was awarded a $6,500 President's Scholarship.
Teresa Lorenz, the daughter of Mary and Thomas Lorenz of Brainerd, and Elisabeth Kraft, the daughter of Jean and James Kraft of Breezy Point, will attend the University of St. Thomas this fall. Lorenz plans to major in international business and she received a $1,200 St. Thomas Academic Scholarship. Kraft received a $7,590 St. Thomas Academic Scholarship and has not decided on a major.
Christine Kraft, the daughter of Harold and Rosemarie Kraft of Merrifield, has been accepted to Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Joshua Wilson, the son of Jillmarie Delnney-Wilson and Steve Wilson of Brainerd, plans to enroll at Concordia College in Moorhead this fall. Wilson is a 2001 Brainerd High School graduate.
Joel Jacobson, the son of Al and Diane Jacobson of Brainerd, plans to attend the University of North Dakota to study aviation.
Steven Carlson, Pillager, received a master's degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Kelly Diiro, the daughter of Bruce and Diane Diiro of Brainerd, plans to attend Emory College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., this fall.
Casey Schmidt, the son of Calvin and Cheryl Schmidt of Little Falls, has been named to the 2000-01 dean's list at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis.
Geri Pohlkamp, Pierz, is currently employed at Central Lakes College as a career projects coordinator. Pohlkamp received a degree in organizational development and behavior at the College of St. Scholastica.
Cassie Stenson, the daughter of Dan and Kathy Stenson of Baxter, and Vanessa Thoennes, the daughter of Paulette and Randy Thoennes of Brainerd, participated in Alexandria Technical College's tuition-free science, technology and engineering camp for girls this summer. The camp consisted of four one-week camps with about 40 seventh-grade girls. The purpose of the camp is to expose young women to the possibilities of a career in manufacturing field early enough to influence their choices in mathematics, science and technology courses in middle and high school.
