BREEZY POINT - Donald E. Brandanger, 79, Breezy Point and Chandler, Texas, passed away on Aug. 9, 2008, at his home in Breezy Point. He was born in Flint, Mich., on Aug. 9, 1929, to Bertine and Grace (Ranney) Brandanger.
He was a veteran of the United States Army who served in Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son, Mike (Patty) Brandanger, Mora; daughters, Michelle (Duane) Poundstone, Mora, Debbie Brandanger, Ramsey; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepsons, Dwight Holland, Prescott, Wis., Douglas (Margie) Holland, Brainerd; stepdaughters, Linda Holmberg, Stillwater, and Laura Axberg, Crystal; eight stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Merlyn (Shirley) Brandanger, Pequot Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; and stepdaughter, Lisa Martin.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Robert Brauer officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military rites will be provided by the VFW Post No. 1647 of Brainerd. Friends may call on one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the Brainerd Seventh-day Adventist Church.
