Tax reduction needed
Since construction started in May on Cedar Scenic Road the city has forgotten to take care of the people who live on the other side of the construction. It's already a joke we have to take the detour toward Pillager all the way to Little Pine Road. Due to the city forgetting about us just because of road construction, they should give us a tax reduction because they're not doing the job we supposedly are paying them to do with our tax money.
Signs on bridges
I think we should have a sign before every bridge that clearly states the bridge inspection rating. If taxes are more important than lives, we should at least be aware of when we are at risk. The wreckage proves we can't trust our government to put safety before ideology. What was the rating of the last bridge you drove across?
It's a shame
It's a shame the meth house that was busted in Fort Ripley was a Habitat for Humanity house built by dozens of volunteers. Kind of like a slap in the face for the community that helped these "poor" people. I also feel very bad for the children involved. They all had a nice home and now it's ruined by the idiocy of the adults involved. Some people can only pray and wish for good fortune to come their way. You, on the other hand, had that opportunity and selfishly threw it away.
Commend the council
I want to commend the Brainerd City Council for voting to require the removal of the ugly and illegal hoop buildings. They were built without a permit and buildings that do not meet the building code and zoning requirements clearly should not be allowed. The next positive step for the council is for it to direct the chief of police to issue citations to those whose yards are such a mess. There are so many obvious violations in every area of the city that the police are looking the other way.
Issues with the governor
I find it interesting to note that our governor on Good Morning Minnesota chose not to take any listener calls in which he might have to answer for the fact that he vetoed transportation bills three times in the last year and a half and now is looking at raising the gas tax only as a knee-jerk reaction after the horrific tragedy on Interstate 35 with the bridge. We can't let this man run our state unchecked.
