CROSSLAKE -- James R. Strang, 76, Crosslake, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.
He was born July 10, 1925, in Hancock, Mich., to Roy F. and Johanna (Beiring) Strang. He married Shyrl J. Eklund on June 29, 1946, in Duluth. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired high school band teacher and band and orchestra director in St. Cloud, Faribault and Ely. He was a member of St. Emily's Catholic Church and the Crosslake American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Strang, Foley, and John "Jack" Strang, Alameda, Calif.; two daughters, Kathleen Lara, Minneapolis, and Mary Strang, Long Beach, Calif.; two brothers, John "Jack" Strang, New Ulm, and William Strang, Duluth; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A brother, Robert Strang, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Emily's Catholic Church in Emily with Father Roman Spors officiating. Burial will be in the Culver Cemetery near Brookston.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m. and prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and one hour before services at the church.
