The Children's Folk Sports presentation from Taiwan, the Republic of China, displayed its rope skipping talents last night at Brainerd High School. All between the ages of 7 and 14, the children will perform again tonight at 7:30 p.m.

30 years ago (1971)

Georgia's Holiday Boutique will hold its Grand Opening. It is located next to the swimming pool at the Holiday Inn Motel. The owner and operator of the shop is Mrs. Georgie Masem who formerly owned Georgia's Dress Shop on South 6th Street.

40 years ago (1961)

Randy Merriman, former host of the nationally famous CBS Television show, "The Big Payoff," will appear at the Crow Wing County Fair on Tuesday, August 15 at 7:45 p.m. at the Grandstand.

60 years ago (1941)

-- Miss Alice Hagen and Betty Trask spent Sunday on the north shore.

-- Neil Whiting, Frank Sullivan and Gus Novotney spent Sunday on the north shore.

80 years ago (1921)

With every county of Minnesota represented the Minnesota Rural Letter Carrier's Association on Friday morning formally opened its 19th annual convention in Brainerd. Welcoming addresses were delivered by Mayor F.E. Little.

100 years ago (1901)

The first large tandem compound engine was sent west from the shops this morning. It was a Hummer and is to be used for heavy work on the Rocky Mountain division.
