EAST GULL LAKE - Team Classic made it 2-for-2 Sunday by defending its Pepsi Lakes Junior Cup title with a team score of 411 on Dutch's Course at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

The Classic was led by Tommy Olson's even-par 72, Nick Forsberg's 80, Zach Israelson's 82 and Cydney Hasselberg's 83.

"It was fun to defend our title," said Olson, who carded his career best round.

Finishing second for Sunday's round was The Legacy, which also finished second for the season. Michael Strain fired a 78, Sean Halverson a 79, Emily Israelson 85 and Matthew Sharockman an 87.

Individual boy: Tommy Olson 72

Individual girl: Kelly Hagenson 79

Team winners: The Classic

The Pines placed third with a 455 thanks to Kelly Hagenson's low girls' round. Hagenson shot nines of 40-39 for a 7-over 79. Hagenson, an incoming senior at Staples-Motley, birdied the 11th and 17th holes and carded pars on 10 and 15 for her 39.

"I was playing really well and hitting the ball really well," said Hagenson. "My putting was better on the back. I was making more putts."

On the front, she posted a birdie on the fifth with pars on 1, 2, 4 and 6.

"It helped knowing where to hit the ball," said Hagenson. "I've really improved my putting from the earlier rounds. I needed only 29 today."

Hagenson's 79 was her career best and led to her second Pepsi Cup title. She won last year at Deacon's Lodge. Her win Sunday prevented high school teammate Cydney Hasselberg from getting the season sweep. Hasselberg shot 83 for second. Fellow teammate Emily Israelson shot 85 for third, which was her career best round.

"I feel really good about this round," Hagenson said. "I'm excited for the next school year. Hopefully I can keep it going."

Also hoping to keep in going is Brainerd's Tommy Olson. The Brainerd boys' varsity rookie shot even-par 72 to pace the boys' field.

Olson birdied the second and seventh holes for a front nine 36 and recorded birdies on 14 and 18 for a second nine 36.

"It was my lowest round ever," said Olson. " I was hitting my drive straight. My irons were the best I've hit them, probably. I putted OK, but I left a couple of shots out there."

Olson said he was gunning for under par on the last three holes. He finished birdie, par, par, but was happy he didn't let the excitement of the moment get to him.

"I used my towel a lot," he said. "It was fun. It was a great day. I was striking the ball well and hitting a lot of greens."

Michael Roedl fired an 80 to push The Preserve to fourth. Maria Sloan's 92 paced Deacon's Lodge, which placed fifth.

Final team standings: 1-The Classic 2,088, 2-The Legacy 2,222, 3- The Preserve 2,312, 4-The Pines 2,371, 5-Deacon's Lodge 2,379
