NEW YORK MILLS - The Nisswa Lightning ended their season with a 6-3 loss to Clarissa in a Region 14C elimination game Sunday.
After winning its first game of the tournament 6-2 Friday against Bertha-Hewitt the Lightning dropped a 9-1 game against Carlos Saturday to be placed in a win-or-go-home scenario Sunday in the double elimination tournament.
Brandon Hilts was the losing pitcher for the Lightning tossing 7 1/3 innings while allowing just one earned run as five Nisswa errors resulted in five unearned Clarissa runs including four in the bottom of the eighth that broke a 2-2 tie.
Mark Germain picked up two doubles and an RBI, Scott Kimman singled and drove in a run and Morgan Shepherd tripled.
Saturday Brett Cloutier was the losing pitcher going 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs while striking out three.
Aaron Jenkins reached base in all four plate appearances collecting two hits and two walks as the Lightning only managed four hits against Carlos starter Nate Hoelscher who pitched a complete game striking out 10.
In the win Friday Jenkins picked up his seventh win of the season striking out six and walking six over eight innings while allowing one earned run.
Drew Boland had two singles, two runs scored and a stolen base and Tony Parrish tripled and had an RBI.
Nisswa ends its season with a 16-7-1 record.
