How often do you get 10 children from a small Brainerd lakes community going to a national event?

Pillager has it! These 10 kids went to the Land O' Lakes Nationals sponsored by the American Bicycle Association, which was held in St. Michael this past weekend.

The 10 boys from Pillager all gathered together with their parents to raise money from the Cass County Fair held in Pillager on July 25-28. Along with the money raised at the Fair various area clubs and sponsors gave donations to help these kids race the sport that they love.

We would like to take this time to thank: Pillager Area Fire Association, Manion Truss and Lumber, Pillager Sunshine Club, Pine River State Bank and Florence Kalata. Without their support the Pillager BMX Team would not have gone as a whole!

It is amazing on how a small town like Pillager can support these 10 children to go the Land O' Lakes Nationals!

Cody benefit

We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the Cash For Cody Benefit. Thank you to the people who worked at making the benefit such a huge success including: Trinity Lutheran Church, The Curissio Group, Connie's Kitchen, Lutheran Brotherhood and a special thanks to Jim and Nedra Torfin. Reading program

The Brainerd Public Library's first-ever Teen Summer Library Program ended on Aug. 3. The purpose of the Teen Summer Library Program was to encourage teens to continue reading throughout the summer by awarding them small prizes for books read. The program was a spectacular success, with 87 teens participating!

The Brainerd Public Library would like to thank the following area businesses for their generous donations given to support this program:

I want to thank everyone who was so nice to take the time to send me a get well card. It meant so much to me. Thank you for some who sent money, that was great, but most of all for the special cards. I read every word on every card. I am doing good and hope to be back by August. Thanks again for caring. I am looking forward to getting back and seeing everyone again.
