20 years ago (1982)

The yard of Mr. and Mrs. Don Waxberg at 723 Norwood Street, was recently selected by the Brainerd Garden Club as the August "Yard of the Month."

30 years ago (1972)

Just under 10,000 persons attended the Crow Wing County Fair yesterday to watch more livestock and horse judging, visit exhibits and the midway and take in the horse show and dog obedience demonstration in front of the grandstand.

40 years ago (1962)

Crow Wing County Fair to open Tuesday in new location.

-- Saddle Club here to provide County Fair entertainment

-- Wide variety of activity during four days

-- Dining hall to be in operation

-- Large parking lot provided at new fairgrounds

60 years ago (1942)

Two communications from men in the 194th tank battalion written before the fall of Bataan arrived here Monday to friends and families of the soldiers who are now either prisoners of war held by the Japanese, or who are fighting a guerilla war in the jungles of the Philippines.

80 years ago (1922)

Flaming posters in all colors of the rainbow proclaim the world famed Howe's London Circus is to be seen in Brainerd August 19. Already the small boy and his elders are happy in anticipating the coming of this mighty talented amusement enterprise and its countless wonders.

100 years ago (1902)

The boys are having the laugh on Pat O'Brien, who while at the lake yesterday spent most of the time in an ice house to keep out of the rain.
