Soap, perfume as bad as smoke
If the person who moved from the smoke at the fairgrounds is the same person who moved in front of me, I would prefer the smell of the smoke. The soap or perfume this person had on was overpowering. No, I did not move and that was my choice. Perhaps "No soap or perfume" should be on that sign also.
Use money wisely
No one likes taxes but funds must be raised for the cleanup and replacement of the bridge and repairs of others. We who drive will pay as we go. Just make sure the money is used wisely.
Tired of taxes
We don't need a gas tax raise. It's hard now for people to get to work. We don't need a stadium from tax money. We don't need millions to build a new library at the Central Lakes College. We don't need the bypass at Pequot Lakes. They don't want it. Take all that money plus surplus and fix our bridges. The state needs to pay the schools for inflation so we don't need a referendum. Wasting has to stop. Wake up, Gov. Pawlenty. We're tired of taxes. Take the money and fix the bridge.
Do you believe me now?
We just don't know from day-to-day what tragedies will befall us. This bridge collapse was not an act of terrorism hopefully but it was no different than one. It is so very important to know without a doubt where you are going to spend entirety. The real tragedy of all this (or any death) is not knowing where you are going - heaven or hell. Can you imagine going down in that river unprepared to meet your maker? And it's so very easy to know for sure where you're going. It's all about Jesus and his shed blood.
Where's the first lady?
I'd heard the first lady Laura Bush would be in the Twin Cities. Because of the bridge collapsing, she saw that also. I looked through the front page and then on and on seeing over a dozen large pictures. The picture on Page 13A was smaller than the pictures of animals. I couldn't believe it. A little more respect and news we want to read about and see would be appreciated to keep your paper going.
