More development has been planned for Baxter -- however, this project will be a neighborhood park. Approximately three acres of county property located near a residential subdivision in Baxter was deeded to that city yesterday for the development of a public park.

30 years ago (1972)

Registration for the fall term of classwork at Brainerd State Junior College is under way with approximately 460 students having either applied or registered.

40 years ago (1962)

Building permits took a big upward surge in July in comparison to the same month a year ago. Building permits for July totaled $338,300. The Franklin Junior High addition permit listed a total of $269,000.

60 years ago (1942)

The Crow Wing County Red Cross Chapter made 246 garments under the Red Cross War work program in July. Of these garments 165 were knitted materials.

80 years ago (1922)

-- Robert E. Falconer left by automobile to attend the Minnesota State Rural Letter Carrier's Convention at Lake City.

100 years ago (1902)

A professor of one of the universities is famous for his absentmindedness. He recently went into a barbershop to get his hair cut. Taking a seat in the chair, he remarked: "As it is quite cool in this room perhaps I had better keep my hat on while you cut my hair."
