Equipment pickup set for Warriors

Equipment for Brainerd Warriors varsity and sophomore football candidates will be issued Aug. 14 at the Brainerd High School equipment room.

Pick up times are 9 a.m. for seniors, 10 a.m. for juniors and 11 a.m. for sophomores.

Candidates are also reminded following equipment pick up, seniors will have a senior meeting with head varsity coach Ron Stolski and all candidates are reminded to bring T-shirt, shorts and shoes for a weight room workout.

Practice officially begins 8 a.m. Aug. 17 at Brainerd High School

Questions may be directed to Ron Stolski at 829-1698.

Remember all candidates must have paper work completed prior to picking up equipment. Papers need to be submitted to Paula in the high school office.

Lumberjacks announce award winners

Brainerd Lumberjacks quarterback Karson Pike was selected as the Semi-Pro Football League Most Valuable Player.

Pike helped lead the Lumberjacks to the league title in the program's first season.

Earning the team's most valuable offensive player was Brad Simpson. Claiming the defensive most valuable player award was the Linebacker core of Pete Ryan, Mike Munsterteiger, Ben Baratto, Mitch Feierabend, Ben Oium and Dave Badeaux.

Lumberjacks head coach J.J. Kern announced that the Lumberjack's season opener for next season will be May 1.
