One of the highlights every day as I read the Dispatch are the elementary school children's drawings ... Wow, what talent and thank you to their teachers for their encouragement. Great job!
Think about it
Not only would it help for the Brainerd School District to survey former students and families when it comes to improving their employee performance, but on their focus. If they did, they would find out that even though a huge amount of students start college, only a small percentage finish. Great numbers quit after the first year. So instead of preparing everyone for college, we should show students alternatives like apprenticeships, trade schools, etc. Instead of reading stats twisted by academicians, they would find out that few jobs require the high math and science they stress.
Wake up, parents
Parents have an obligation to watch over their children especially when the tiny tots lie down in the middle of the street with cars coming from both directions. We have the same situation that was recently reported in the police blotter. Parents, wake up before it's too late.
More handicapped-accessible entrances needed
There should be more handicapped-accessible entrances on the businesses in downtown Brainerd because it does eliminate a certain section of the population who cannot come in.
What about Ironton Days?
Emily Days, Woodtick Races, McGregor Wild Rice Days, Crosby Heritage Days, Deerwood Summerfest, Aitkin Riverboat Days. Come on, Ironton. Don't just sit there on a bench like a sundial watching the traffic go by. How about Ironton Days? You have the nice wide streets for crafters and events. Come on, Ironton, get with the program.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: Some stress-filled days the Vox Pop Department of Relaxation thinks it would be desirable to sit on the bench like a sundial and watch the traffic go by.)
