Teen Challenge to perform at CCC

NISSWA - Minnesota Teen Challenge will be at Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Dr., Nisswa, at the 9 and 10:15 a.m. services Aug. 16. Come and hear testimonies and music of individuals that are excited about their faith walk.

VBS at CCC

NISSWA - "A Whale of a Tale: Jonah's Great Adventures" vacation Bible school will run from 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 17-20 at Christ Community Church in Nisswa.

VBS is for children ages 3 years old to 6th grade. Kids will learn from Jonah the importance of obeying God. Bible lessons, skits, games, crafts, snacks, music and more are all a part of the plans. Opportunities are available also for teens and adults to help. Suggested donation: $5/child, maximum: $15/family.

Malmo outdoor concert

MALMO - Mark Wayne from Tomahawk, Wis., will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at a concert at the Malmo Evangelical Free Church.

Wayne started playing the steel guitar in 1983 after seeing his great uncle play. From 1999 to 2006 he played the steel guitar with the country gospel group, Harbor Lighthouse. Being fortunate enough to play several instruments, he became involved with studio work and started AR Recording Studios in 1996.

The church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.

VBS at Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Discover the wonders of the word in Discovery Canyon during vacation Bible school at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in northeast Brainerd. All ages are invited to participate in VBS from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. VBS at Deerwood Baptist

DEERWOOD - Deerwood Baptist Church is holding its vacation Bible school from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. The week begins with a family night on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and all children, parents, and grandparents are welcome.

This year's vacation Bible school theme is "Passport to the Promised Land" with Bible classes, songs, games, crafts and snacks. All children ages four to 14 are welcome to attend. Pre-registering is appreciated by calling 534-3171.

Brainerd Christian Women's Connection

NISSWA - The Brainerd Christian Women's Connection invites women of all ages to the annual auction/luncheon at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Grand View Lodge, Nisswa.

Proceeds from the live and silent auctions go to help Stonecroft World-Wide Ministries.

Speaker Sandy Carlson, an on-the-go woman, shares how to keep grounded when life upsets your own plans in "Life Is What Happens When You're Making Other Plans." Music will be provided by Ellie Loschko.

Free child care is available at a church located near the luncheon.

DEERWOOD - Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood will be the site of Salem's Summerfest Extravaganza Aug. 14-15 during Deerwood Summerfest. Food will be served in the parking lot both days. There will be a rummage sale and silent auction on Aug. 15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Deerwood Auditorium.

VBS at Motley Methodist

MOTLEY - Motley United Methodist Church will host vacation Bible school from 5-7:45 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. This year's theme is "Crocodile Dock." Summer Bible school at Trinity Lutheran

"Crocodile Dock" will be the theme for the vacation Bible school program at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. The week-long adventure will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

The Bible-themed adventure program will have different activities for age groups four years through fifth grade. Some of the activities include crafts, Bible theatre presentations, food and outdoor adventures.
