Dan Lane of Heartland Tire Service at 501 West Washington was recently singled out for his manner with customers by a committee of the Brainerd Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Brainerd Area Newcomers Club held its annual July luncheon recently at Madden's Inn. Sixty-five alumni, prospective members and members were present for the luncheon, cards, swimming, tennis, golf and tours of Lumbertown.

40 years ago (1967)

Preliminary approval of $24,000 federal grant for planning a low-rent public housing project in Brainerd was announced today.

60 years ago (1947)

Aurora Lodge No. 100, A.F. and A.M. will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 10. The general committee planning the celebration say that the event "will be long remembered in Masonic circles."

80 years ago (1927)
