ST. PAUL (AP) -- Free-agent defenseman Jason Beckett signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.
Beckett played last season for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. The 6-foot-3, 218-pound defenseman ranked third on the team in penalty minutes (130), and had two goals and 10 assists in 64 games.
Before joining the Admirals, Beckett split time between the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League. He was drafted by Philadelphia in the second round of the 1998 draft.
