Touch football sign-up under way
Registration is under way for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation touch football league.
To reserve a spot in the seven-player league, a $100 fee must be paid by Aug. 25. The rest of the league fee, including user fees, is due Sept. 5.
There will be a total of eight teams. Teams will not be allowed to register at the manager's meeting 6 p.m., Aug. 25 at the Mill Avenue warming house.
Games will be at 6, 6:50, 7:40 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Memorial Park. Minnesota Sports Federation rules will apply.
Weightlifting contest at Nisswa
The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce's turtle racing ring will become the arena for the 10th annual Nisswa Crazy Days Weightlifting Contest on Saturday.
It will be a Minnesota Weightlifting Federation sanctioned event. Weigh-in begins at 10 a.m., followed by introduction of competitors at 11:45 a.m. Competition begins at noon. Medals will be awarded to first through third place.
