20 years ago (1983)

At a recent 1928 class reunion, Lydia Walsh Novick, a member of the class, presented a painting to the school entitled "memories" and depicts the old Washington Senior High School that was destroyed by fire in 1928.

30 years ago (1973)

St. Joseph's Hospital has a new administrator, an energetic and articulate Jerry Scott of Decorah, Iowa. Scott is now on the job and has some new ideas and plans. Included in those plans is the goal of making the hospital a real medical center for this area.

40 years ago (1963)

A total of 51 shooters took part in the annual pistol shoot sponsored by the Brainerd Police Department. Local shooters to place were Mel Dahlberg, Highway Department, Al Kranz, Brainerd policemen, took third in the slow fire phase.

60 years ago (1943)

Deni Bierhaus and John Arnold, both of Brainerd, left last night for Parris Island, South Carolina, where they will begin training with the Marine candidate class.

80 years ago (1923)

Brainerd and other city officials throughout the state are being notified of plans to enforce the new law against highway advertising signs, effective December 1.

100 years ago (1903)

A neat, 5 year old, 5-room cottage. Nice 50 foot lot, wood shed, brick cement cellar, fence, two porches, screens--only $700.
