LONGVILLE -- The dinner bell will ring the start of the Taste of Longville on Friday in downtown Longville.
The theme is Taste of America. The event will run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nine restaurants and organizations will have food booths on Main Street.
The Young At Heart Seniors will serve American Hero sandwiches and homemade pies. The Longville Community Church will serve Minnesota Fresh Turkey-On-A Stick. The Longville Chamber of Commerce will serve original Northland Wild Rice Soup and Mary Etta's Pies from Pequot Lakes.
Camp Olson will have Southwestern Tacos on hand. Patrick's will offer Southern barbecued meatballs. Frosty's will serve American style pizza and dogs. Wabedo Inn will bring samples of four Germany-in-America entrees served at the restaurant: Sauerbraten, Jaegerschnitzel, Spaetzle and Red Cabbage. The Docksider will have a large selection of American wines for wine tasting, in addition to American cheeses and crackers.
Desserts will be a highlight of the event. Woman Lake Resort will serve homemade doughnuts. The seniors will sell homemade pies and the chamber will have on hand Mary Etta's pies. Frosty's, One Stop and Redbird Cafe all will serve ice cream cones and other ice cream desserts.
Several businesses will have in-store tasting available. King Gallery will serve s'more bars, corn basil soup and salsas. Kellogg's will have Christmas Point soups and fudge. Tabakas will have samples from its meat department.
Restaurants in Longville will have specials. The Redbird Cafe will serve Buffalo Burgers. The One Stop, Patrick's and Common Grounds will have theme specials.
For kids, there will be three of the turtle race games and prizes from noon to 3 p.m. Camp Olson will bring a wagon and horses for free rides around Longville from noon to 2 p.m.
There will be music and dancing with Andy and his Boys playing from noon to 3 p.m.
