BACKUS -- Mick Lamont, 37, Backus, wants to prove to children with cerebral palsy that there is life even if you're in a wheelchair.
Lamont, who has cerebral palsy, plans to travel 38.8 miles down the Paul Bunyan Trail from Backus to Baxter, a 5 1/2 hour journey, Aug. 20 in his electric wheelchair to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network and Gillette Lifetime Specialty Care Clinic.
Lamont has never done this before, but has been practicing with trips down the trail.
"Mick is very thankful for all the help he received from friends and family," said Kathleen Mitchell, his personal care assistant.
