Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2405 Walden Way, in St. Cloud for Joanne G. (Bauer) Kollodge, age 68, of Minneapolis, who passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 3, 2009, after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Entombment of her cremated remains will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the Church of the Holy Spirit in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Joanne was born March 21, 1941, in Paynesville, Minn., to Al and Marie (Schoenberg) Bauer. She graduated from St. Benedict's Monastery and was a teaching nun until 1971 when she left the Order. She worked in education as a teacher and then principal in the St. Cloud and surrounding areas. She retired in 2003. She married Jim Kollodge on Aug. 21, 2004. In retirement they enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. She also enjoyed dancing, cooking, painting, gardening and motorcycle riding.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Jim, of Minneapolis; mother, Marie, of Paynesville; brothers and sisters, Gene (Judy), of Wilson, Wis., Betty (Ken) Winter, of Richmond, Bob (Donna), of Paynesville, Duane (Roseann), of Waite Park, Karen (Lyle) Paavola, of Clear Lake, and Bonnie (Jim) Lampert, of Little Falls; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Al.
