Katelyn Crocker, daughter of Terry Crocker, Brainerd, and Karleen Nelson, Merrifield, was awarded the Yellow and Blue Scholarship for the 2007-2008 school year at South Dakota State University. She plans to major in animal science.
Brian Leverson, a 2007 graduate of Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena, was recently awarded the gold medal in Electronics Applications at the annual National Leadership and Skills Conference and Skills USA Championships in Kansas.
Cadet/Staff Sgt. Jessica Stone of the St. Cloud Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron was awarded the first Jacob Pfingsten Memorial Flight Training Scholarship during the annual Minnesota Wing Flight Academy at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Jacob's sisters, Jolene Parks and Sarah Pfingsten, Brainerd, made the presentation. The scholarship provides up to 30 hours of Civil Air Patrol Cessna 172 funding to assist a graduate in obtaining a FAA private pilot certificate. Jacob Pfingsten was a longtime member of the Crow Wing Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol as a cadet and senior member. He died in 2005 of natural causes while conducting a special assignment with the U.S. Army in Hohenfels, Germany. He was the son of Tom and Beth Pfingsten, Brainerd, and LaDonna and Randy Blackorbay, Maple Grove.
