Robert F. Doyle

GARRISON -- Robert F. Doyle, age 83, Borden Lake resident, Garrison, formerly of West Concord, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

Robert was born May 22, 1922, in Montpelier, Vt. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of Mankato State College and began his teaching career in 1952. He retired to the Brainerd lakes area in 1998 after a full teaching career. He continued to teach and substitute teach until age 78.

Survivors include his wife, June; daughter, Connie Cox, of Westminster, Colo.; sons, Robert Jr. (Patricia) Doyle, of Inver Grove Heights, and Patrick (Marilyn) Doyle, of Breezy Point, Minn.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Heilman.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; daughter, Lee Ann Leary; brother, William Doyle; and son-in-law, Tony Cox.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Garrison with the Rev. Dr. Paul Fruth officiating. Burial will be in 11 a.m. Monday at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley with military honors provided by Brainerd American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard. Visitation will be the hour before services Sunday at the church.
