PEQUOT LAKES -- For their home, David and Constance Johnson chose an American cottage style variation from the French colonial style southern plantation, mimicking the half-timber construction, also called post-on-sill.

Rita Kay (Conroy) Cronquist, age 37, resident of rural Brainerd, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2005, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Rita was born Aug. 28, 1967, in St. Cloud to Leo and Jaclyn (Nutter) Conroy. She graduated from Sauk Rapids High School and St. Cloud Vo-Tech where she studied as a chef. She worked in various cooking-related jobs in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and the Brainerd area.

Nicoleta G. Aspros, age 88, resident of Brainerd, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Nicoleta was born in Kalamata, Greece, on April 8, 1917, to James and Katherine Giannacopoulas. She married William Aspros in Greece on March 4, 1935. They came to America in May 1935. She and Bill owned the original Smokey Bill's Barbeque and Resort. Nicoleta will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
