NISSWA -- C.R. "Charlie" McGuire, age 93, resident of Nisswa, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
Charlie was born June 10, 1910, in Willmar, Minn., to Frank E. and Margaret (Rossmon) McGuire. They moved to Bloomington soon after where Charlie was raised and attended school. After school he worked briefly for Bachmans Floral and Nursery before accepting a job with Minneapolis-St. Louis Railroad in Bloomington where he worked as a switchman until his retirement in 1963. He was united in marriage to Alice Annette Lundborg in Minneapolis in 1935 and the two made their home in Bloomington until moving to Nisswa in 1963. Alice passed away June 5, 1990, and Charlie continued to make his home in Nisswa until entering Bethany Good Samaritan Village in May.
Charlie is survived by two sons, David (Charlene) McGuire of Prior Lake, Minn., and John McGuire of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kelly and Mike; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, brother Frank McGuire, and two sisters Etta and Stella.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Christ Community Church in Nisswa with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Visitation will be a half hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery of Nisswa. Memorials are preferred to Christ Community Church of Nisswa.
