BAXTER -- Jeremy Vacinek has been named Baxter's finance director.
The Baxter City Council Tuesday approved Vacinek, who had been the city's assistant finance director, for the position.
Vacinek will fill the void left after the death of former Finance Director Jim Weigel. Weigel died June 13 after a long battle with cancer.
"As long as I've been here and working with him, Jeremy's done a good job," said Baxter Mayor Gary Muehlhausen.
In other action, the council:
Rescheduled a city council meeting on deferred assessments on the Clearwater Road/Inglewood Drive improvement project to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
Adjourned to 5:30 p.m. today for a workshop.
Set a public meeting to discuss street name changes for 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at Baxter Elementary School.
Approved the transfer of $120,719 in sewer availability charge proceeds from the sewer fund to the Forest/Fox capital project fund to cover expenditures for lift station No. 13 with future SAC funds being collected and deposited into the SAC fund on future construction in the area that utilizes lift station 13.
Denied quotes received for the 2003 Cottage Grove extension project, which instead will be bid with the 2003 Knollwood Drive and Conservation Drive improvement projects.
Denied a request for street lighting on Knollwood Drive South following current policy to place street lights only at city-owned street intersections.
Approved the proposal for engineering services from Widseth Smith Nolting architect and engineering firm for project management and construction staking for the Berrywood Drive improvement project at an estimated cost of $49,500.
Adopted a resolution approving plans and specifications, and ordered advertisement for bids for the Conservation Drive improvement project.
Accepted the withdrawal letter, with regret, from Bob Dorr of DECO for an purchase of an industrial park lot. The city canceled the purchase agreement, retaining the earnest money. DECO instead will rent space in the Johnson Centre.
Set the lot price at $79,900 per acre for the remaining two lots in the third phase of the Baxter Industrial Park.
