WALKER -- Cass County Jail Administrator Bert Woodford told Cass County commissioners Tuesday the work assignments sentence-to-serve inmates completed during the first half of this year.

He reported several requests for brushing township roads are pending assignments.

Most days this year, six inmates worked on the sentence-to-serve crew.

Crews cleaned carpets and split firewood for churches during the winter this year. They do ongoing cleaning and yard maintenance work at the courthouse and other county buildings, at senior and community centers, schools and for cemeteries.

They did painting and shelf building and repaired equipment at the Pillager Fairgrounds and landscaping and mowing at the Pine River Fairgrounds. They clear brush from municipal airports and planted trees along the Paul Bunyan Trail.
