McGREGOR -- John C. Serfling, 70, McGregor, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
He was born July 16, 1932, in Minneapolis to Lloyd A. and Esther V. (Johnson) Serfling. He graduated from McGregor High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He married Ruby Ann Thompson on Sept. 23, 1955, at Grace Lutheran Church in Shamrock Township in Aitkin County. He owned and operated Serfling Excavating in McGregor until retirement. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Curtis Serfling, McGregor; Jerry Serfling, East Bethel, and David Serfling, Phoenix; one daughter, Ann Walters, Crooks, S.D.; one brother, Don Serfling, McGregor; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His parents and a sister, Betty Veal, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in McGregor with the Rev. Robert Munneke officiating. Burial will be in Pine Needle Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before services Sunday at the church.
