Pine River farm family honored

WALKER The University of Minnesota Extension Service selected Brad and Nancy Stockman as the 2010 Cass County Farm Family of the Year.

The Cass County Board recognized their achievement at Tuesday's county board meeting. They appeared before the board with their son, Austin, to receive the award.

The Cass County Extension Committee recommended to the University of Minnesota the Stockmans' nomination. Recipients must be a Minnesota food producer actively involved in agricultural production and be active in their community.

The Stockmans farm 400 acres east of Backus to supply the feed for the 100 registered Holstein cows, heifers and beef cattle on their farm. The beef cattle are used as recipients for the flushed embryos from the high quality genetic Holsteins.
