Huskies bite Thunder

DULUTH - Matt Benedict and Justin Saufley limited Brainerd to four hits but the Duluth Huskies had to score in the bottom of the 10th to nip the Blue Thunder 7-6 in Northwoods League baseball Saturday night at Wade Stadium.

Brainerd tied the game 2-2 in the third and went ahead 4-2 in the fourth. Duluth scored three times in the fifth and once in the sixth for a 6-4 edge.

The Blue Thunder climbed within 6-5 in the seventh when Devon Ramirez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brainerd tied the game 6-6 in the ninth on Tim Winslow's RBI double.

Duluth won the game with two out in the 10th on a Blue Thunder error.

Michael Lueck, the third Brainerd pitcher, took the loss. In 2 1/3 innings he gave up just one hit and no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Chris House was 2-for-4 and Ty Main was 2-5 to lead the Huskies.
