The Open Door has been "a place to go" for a lot of kids. Located at 514 South Seventh Street, the center offers free foosball games, bumper pool tables, ping pong and assorted board games from 1 - 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Attendance at the Crow Wing County Fair was down by 20 percent for opening day this year as compared to opening day last year. Attendance yesterday was estimated at 10,000.

Jack Lindell, radioman First Class U.S. Navy, will broadcast on the "Meet Your Navy" program scheduled from Okinawa Monday night at 3 o'clock. Lindel is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Lindell, 520 North Seventh Street, Brainerd.
80 years ago (1925)
The matter of a new gymnasium combined with an auditorium with additional classrooms and heating plant was one of the principal topics at the Board of Education Monday night. Such a building would be in the northeast corner of the Washington School grounds.
100 years ago (1905)
There is noticeable improvement in the appearance of the streets of the city of late. Street Commissioner Weitzel has been busy with a crew of men cleaning up and the improvement of the business district is especially noticeable.
