DENVER - The Baxter 11-U baseball team won two games in pool play Sunday in the Cal Ripken Midwest Regional.
Baxter edged Colorado 11-10 in nine innings as Cole Foss picked up the win with three innings of relief.
Foss, Allen Jevning and Josh Howieson each had three hits for Baxter and Tristan Brecht homered.
Baxter beat Kansas 9-5, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth to snap a 5-5 tie.
Hanson Devine picked up the victory with three innings of relief. Jevning had four hits and Luke West, Foss, Howieson and Jack Geraets each had two hits for Baxter.
Baxter earned the top seed in pool play and will get a first-round bye in the six-team, double-elimination tournament that starts Monday.
On Saturday, Baxter won its opening game in pool play 5-4 over Yankton, S.D. Brady Mick scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth with two outs.
Jack Geraets pitched the first three innings. Foss pitched the final three and gave up no runs to get the win.
Brecht was 3-3 with a double and two singles.
