Baxter 12-U team splits in Cal Ripken regional

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. The Baxter 12-U baseball team defeated host Grand Island 19-1 in a losers' bracket game Sunday in the Cal Ripken Midwest Regional.

Baxter had 15 hits, including a grand slam by Kyler Kennedy. Sam Schutt got the win in the 4-inning game.

On Saturday, Baxter lost 8-6 to Missouri No. 2.

Schutt was 2-2 with two walks, a run and two RBIs. Quinn McElfresh had two hits, including a double. Tori Miller took the loss.

Baxter plays Scotts Bluff, Neb., at 3 p.m. Monday. If it wins it plays again at 7 p.m. Monday.
