Three biathletes from Nisswa NW Biathlon competed in the first roller ski biathlon of the season Thursday at the Woodland Trails in Elk River.
Zean Baker, 15, Nisswa, finished third overall and second in the Youth Men class with 10 misses in 37:56 on the 9.8km course.
Baker was followed closely by Jenna Ruzich, 16, Baxter, with clean shooting in 10 shots prone and only three misses in 10 shots standing and a time of 38:36 for fourth place overall and first place for women.
Ty Hadrits, 14, Brainerd followed in seventh place overall, fourth in Youth Men with 10 misses in 39:24.
Ruzich leaves for a week of training at the Ethan Allen Ranges in Jericho, VT., which concludes with two races. The U.S. National team and a team from Quebec will participate along with athletes from across the northern part of the U.S.
The next event in Minnesota will be Aug. 13 at Elk River.
