Wild pitches propel Lunkers

ROCHESTER - Two wild pitches in the ninth inning allowed Mike Gedman (UMass) and David Valesente (St. Joseph's) to score the go-ahead runs and give the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers a 5-3 win over the Rochester Honkers Saturday night.

Gedman and Valesente were 2-for-4 at the plate. Gedman scored two runs while Valesente had a two-out, 2-run double in the fourth.

Lunkers starter Luke Rasmussen (Minnesota) pitched five innings, allowed four hits, and struck out two and left with the lead. A Rochester rally saddled Rasmussen with a no-decision.

Drew Smith (Barton CC) picked up his second win of the season.

The Lunkers return to Mills Field at 7:05 p.m. Monday to face the Duluth Huskies.
