A watercolor by Pelican Lake artist Leslie Gerstman has been selected for the 25th annual Juried Exhibition for Women Artists, which opens Friday at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.

The exhibit, which runs through Aug. 26, is sponsored each year by the Women's Art Registry of Minnesota, a women's advocacy organization.

Gerstman's "African Violet & Peppers" will hang with 39 other works from 35 artists chosen for the exhibit, according to a WARM news release. More than 430 pieces were submitted for consideration.

A reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday will open the exhibit at the college, 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.

The Five Wings Arts Council, which distributes public and private funding for area artists and art-related organizations, is looking for candidates to fill vacancies on the board from Crow Wing, Todd and Wadena counties.

The council considers policies, programs and grants related to the arts in two other central Minnesota counties, Cass and Morrison, but vacancies are not available for those areas. The council's office is in Staples.

Volunteer members serve six-year terms and are reimbursed for meals and mileage. For more information, call Mark Turner at 894-3233.
