Area horseshoe pitchers in nationals
HIBBING -- Nine Brainerd area residents are competing in the 83rd annual World Horseshoe Pitching Tournament through Aug. 11 at the Hibbing Memorial Building.
The delegation includes Cheryl and Shawn Andrea, Dan Girtz and Jerry Marshik, Pierz; Joyce and Lars Hemmingson and Dick Sistek, Walker; Norm Loidolt, Little Falls; and Rick Skiba, Hillman.
The tournament schedule:
July 29-Aug 4 - Class championship competition (in ascending order by entering percentages).
Aug. 4 at 3:15 p.m. - Junior boys and girls championships will be decided.
Aug. 6-8 - Top-seeded Divisions (Class A-C) will compete.
Aug. 9-11 - Championship classes for men, women, senior men and women and elder compete for world championship titles in each of the seven divisions.
