LONGVILLE -- Cass County Commissioners Virgil Foster and Joanne Pels, Administrator Robert Yochum and Land Commissioner Norm Moody will meet with Leech Lake Reservation representatives to discuss a reservation request to trade land parcels.
The reservation is seeking a 141.47-acre county tract about a mile north of Northern Lights Casino near Walker for a wastewater treatment system for its casino expansion project.
Board Chair Jim Demgen asked Foster and Pels also to explore other options, such as leasing the land to the reservation, with the thought a community sewer system for the entire Y junction of Highways 371 and 200 business area might be combined into one system with the reservation's system for the casino.
Construction on the casino expansion project is expected to take place this winter, with a mid-2001 opening, the board learned Tuesday.
