Leaking package causes concern

A suspicious leaking package had the Crow Wing County Bomb Squad at the Brainerd Post Office early Saturday morning.

Emergency units arrived about 4 a.m. after being alerted to a package with a liquid substance dripping from it.

Sgt. Tim Clarine, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department, said the package was something a resident ordered on eBay but there wasn't a hazard and no one was injured. Clarine said it was a good precautionary reaction to the package.

The Brainerd Fire Department and police department were on the scene for about three hours. The end result was the post office was going to retain possession of it and dispose of it, Brainerd Patrolman Ray McCollum said.
