LITTLE FALLS -- Donald Joseph DeRosier, 73, Little Falls, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center in St. Cloud.
He was born July 2, 1928, in Terrebonne Township to Joseph and Minnie (LaCoursiere) DeRosier. He married Avis M. Halle on Jan. 17, 1951, in Terrebonne. He entered the Army on Jan. 16, 1951, and was discharged on Jan. 31, 1952. They moved to Little Falls and he worked as a barber for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls and served as an usher there. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post No. 46 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Little Falls Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Gary DeRosier, Fergus Falls, David, Little Falls, Wayne DeRosier, Zimmermann, Bruce DeRosier, St. Cloud, and Gene DeRosier, Mary Esther, Fla.; a daughter, Vicky Thompson, Allen Park, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Herbert DeRosier, McIntosh; and four sisters, Noella Delorme, Thief River Falls, Bernice Valley, Red Lake Falls, Darlene Kazmierczak, Scandia, and Marcella Lydecker, Kansas City, Mo.
His parents, and an infant brother, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger, the Rev. John Miller and the Rev. Tim Wenzel officiating. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Little Falls American Legion Post No. 46 prayer service at 6 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers rosary at 6:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 7 p.m., and from 8-10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
