The Brainerd City Council will meet in a closed session Monday to possibly dole out preliminary discipline against an employee, it was learned Thursday.
Sources have told the Dispatch the employee is a full-time firefighter who allegedly used a fire truck to fill a swimming pool at his home one night in early July.
The council met in a closed session on July 20 to give preliminary consideration of possible discipline against an employee but made no decision.
City Attorney Tom Fitzpatrick said Thursday because the city council has made no final decision on the matter, information about the employee's name and the alleged matter under disciplinary review are not public under state statute.
The firefighter against whom the allegations have been made declined to comment. Brainerd Fire Chief Fred Underhill declined to comment on the issue as it was being handled by the city council and the city attorney.
Council members Kevin Goedker, Kelly Bevans, Lucy Nesheim, Bob Olson and Mayor James Wallin also declined to comment. Council members Anne Nelson Fisher, Bonnie Cumberland and Mary Koep could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
