Public review, comment sought on proposed Bertha swine facility

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has prepared an environmental assessment worksheet for a proposed swine facility about four miles southwest of Bertha in Todd County.

The EAW, which describes potential impacts on land use, water quality and air quality, is open for public review and comment for 30 days through Aug. 29.

Comments on the EAW should be submitted to the MPCA in writing by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 to Chai Insook, MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, MN 55155-4194, or by fax to (651) 297-2343.

Road closures planned in Timothy Township

Starting Aug. 6, Crow Wing County Road 1 will be closed about two miles west of the Crow Wing County Road 1 and Crow Wing County Road 66 intersection in Timothy Township in northern Crow Wing County as crews begin a bridge replacement over Thompson Creek.

Traffic will be detoured onto Highway 371, Crow Wing County Road 16 and Crow Wing County Road 66. Weather permitting, the road will be closed for about a week.

Starting Aug. 13, Swanburg Road will be closed at the Thompson Creek bridge site about a half mile north of Crow Wing County Road 1. No detour will be in place.

Both roads will be impassable while the work is being performed. Any questions should be directed to the Crow Wing County Highway Department at 824-1110.
