I want to thank all the Brainerd emergency men and women who responded to the 911 call for Jim Johnson on Crow Wing Lake on July 23. The first responders with the ambulance, the sheriff and his men, the fire department, the chaplain, the coroner, all were professional, kind and caring in a difficult situation.

Art festival
The 31st annual Majestic Pines Art Festival was held Saturday, July 24, throughout Nisswa who welcomed crowds of spectators to this annual event. As people strolled around the Paul Bunyan Trail, in the Pioneer Village, along city streets that headed to the Nisswa Elementary School to view additional crafters and artisans a good time was had by all on a beautiful summer day in Nisswa.
A festival of this size cannot be accomplished without the volunteer assistance of people who generously gave of their time, talent and energy to ensure a successful occasion for participants and the public. The Nisswa Chamber coordinated this event and extends a big thank you to the following volunteers whose efforts made this year's festival a success: Angel Christensen, Wayne Erickson, Mary Farmer, Teresa Faust, Maggie Fuller, Bill Grange, Dan Halland, Julie Herubin, Cheryal Lee Hills, Sonya Hills, George Holtan, Elsie Husom, Bev Jondahl, Lisa Omodt, Amy Schreier, Mimi Thurlow and their Brownie/Girl Scout Trooop volunteers and Scott Thurlow.

Festival judges were Carole Henderschott, Nisswa; Connie Meyers, Connie's Studio of Photography, Nisswa; and Millie Morris, former director of operations of Crossing Arts Alliance and currently co-owner of Insty-Prints, Brainerd. Their expertise and valued time were appreciated and added to the success of this event.

Motorcycle run
