Pequot Lakes School all-class reunion set Aug. 11

PEQUOT LAKES -- The 29th annual Pequot Lakes all-class reunion will be Aug. 11 at the high school.

All former students, graduates, faculty and friends are encouraged to attend.

The reunion will begin with registration and social hour at noon, followed at 1 p.m. by a brief business meeting and a potluck lunch. Meats, buns, beverages, plates and utensils will be furnished. Participants should bring hot dishes, salads and desserts to share. Presentation of the honored class, the Class of 1952, will follow the luncheon.

Camp Knutson to host annual quilt auction Aug. 10

CROSSLAKE -- Camp Knutson near Crosslake will host its 16th annual quilt auction from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 10. Proceeds benefit camp scholarships for children and families.

More than 100 handmade quilts with colorful designs will be on display at the auction. The event is co-sponsored by Camp Knutson and the Lutheran Social Service Paul Bunyan Auxiliary.

Quilt viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with the live auction beginning at noon. Auctioneer is Harvey Buchite. Concessions will be available.

Camp Knutson, which serves almost a dozen separate special needs groups, is six miles north of Crosslake.

Cass' outstanding senior citizen to be announced

PINE RIVER -- The Cass County Council on Aging will meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Red Pine Supper Club, just south of Pine River on Highway 371.

This meeting will be the annual delegate luncheon. Lunch will be served at noon with the regular meeting following at 1 p.m. A ceremony will honor outstanding senior citizen nominees, and the winner of this year's outstanding senior award for Cass County will be named.

The nominees are: Carrie Mecklenberg, Pine River; Bernadette Miller, Hackensack; Peggy Norris, Hackensack; Mary Norton, Walker; Pauline Fox, Outing; and Mary Jacobson, Longville.
