The reconstruction project on Highway 210-371 (West Washington Street), in Brainerd will begin Monday. The project, involving improvements from the Mississippi River bridge west to the railroad overpass, is expected to be completed this fall.

Since the fountain was erected in Gregory Square, the park has become one of the most popular spots in Brainerd. Every evening brings adults, often with young children, to view the colored lights and many teenagers have adapted the fountain as an evening meeting place.

Appointment of Mrs. Nordica Thabes as City Treasurer and adoption of a resolution to sell $50,000 in street improvement bonds highlighted last night's City Council action.

Bigger, better and more colorful than ever before, the Crow Wing County Fair opens at the new grounds northeast of Brainerd Aug. 7, and continues with three days crammed full of entertainment. More exhibits, more premiums than ever before are certain to elicit greater enthusiasm on the part of the patrons.

Summer finds Brainerd divided into two camps -- those who glory in having a lake cottage and those who swelter in the heat of the town.
