Hines takes home victory

BARROWS - Luke Hines captured his first checkered flag of the stock car racing season Saturday night at North Central Speedway.

Hines won the Midwest Modified feature in a class that has had the largest car count of any class all season. The points race shows the depth of the class, with three drivers within four points of the lead.

Hines was followed to the flag by Shane Sabraski in second place and Mitch Lowe in third.

Troy Jordan took over the season points lead from John Thompson. Jordan has a three-point edge on Thompson and a four points on Danny Vang.

Pure Stock feature: Dan Ebert earned his fourth consecutive checkered flag, driving past Mike Smude and Derek Olson for the victory.

The points battle is for second place where Derek Olson, currently in third place, gained some ground on second-place Allen Brehmer, who leads Olson in the battle for second by 14 points.

Street Stock feature: Mark Johnson took the first-place finish and is 19 points behind Mike Kuhlman in the season points chase.

Allen Gessell Jr. finished in second place with Cory Crapser in third. Scott Baron remains in third place for the season, trailing Kuhlman by 22 points.

Super Stock feature: Tim Johnson returned to victory lane. Josh Anderson finished second and Dave Mass was third.

Mass has a firm grip on third place in the points standings. Butch Butcher leads Ken Puckett by just four points. Butcher finished in fifth place and Puckett in seventh in Saturday's feature.

Modified feature: Fred Aschenbauer held off Charles Cooper IV and Shawn Fletcher in the Modified feature event.

Brian Strand finished seventh but still holds a commanding 25-point lead over Jim Chyba in the season points chase.
