Brainerd's Crazy Days are on for Friday and Saturday. It's that annual mid-summer madness when shoppers go wild looking for bargains and costumed merchants go wild selling the bargains. It's all in good fun, and shucks, shopping should help keep our minds off the water problem and the heat.

30 years ago (1977)

A Crow Wing County grand jury has returned a report urging the construction of a new public safety building "as soon as possible," it was learned.

40 years ago (1967)

Two old buildings will be seen at the Crow Wing County fairgrounds for the first time this year. These buildings were moved to the fairgrounds earlier this year so they may be restored as show pieces of the past history of Brainerd.

60 years ago (1947)

New System Bakery

80 years ago (1927)

Brainerd, if alert in establishing a satisfactory air field, will be in line to gain much northwest airplane travel and may also get on one of the regular air mail routes being established.

100 years ago (1907)

The "sunflower" special, bearing the shows of the C.W. Parker shows, will arrive in Brainerd tomorrow afternoon over the N.P. from Fargo. This train has the reputation of being the finest show train on the road.
