Hinrichs to perform
Ann Hinrichs will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Malmo Free Church. She has been singing and writing music since childhood and has a message of worship and praise to share. Bring a lawn chair to listen to the music outdoors, rain or shine. The church is at the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Mille Lacs Lake.
The country gospel band "In His Name" will share musical testimony of grace at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at Riverside Union Church. The church is 8.5 miles south of Brainerd on County Road 45 or 3.5 miles north of the Crow Wing/Morrison county line on County Road 45.
"In His Name" also will appear 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 5 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Crow Wing County Fair.
Join Hands Day
Central Lakes Chapter 31300 of Thrivent Financial recently held a Join Hands Day with Family of Christ Lutheran School in Baxter. The chapter was awarded $1,000 to use toward landscaping at its new building. More than 25 members participated for a combined total of 245 hours.
Trinity welcomes intern pastor
A celebration service of beginning will be 9 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd to welcome Rena Peterson as intern pastor.
Peterson is a student at Luther Seminary in Minneapolis. As Trinity's intern pastor, she will fulfill a year of requirements for her master's of divinity degree, as well as participate in all pastoral responsibilities. Rena's husband, David, is pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa. They have two children, Carla and Michael.
A reception for the Peterson family will follow the celebration service at Trinity.
Groundbreaking ceremony set Sunday in Motley
Motley United Methodist Church will have a groundbreaking ceremony 11:30 a.m. Sunday following the 10 a.m. worship service for a fully handicapped-accessible, 10,000-square-foot building. The new site is at Third Avenue South and Cemetery Road in front of the new townhouses.
Berge Family to perform Saturday in Crosslake
The Berge Family of Bemidji will present a bluegrass gospel concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church.
Ken and Rebecca Berge and their daughters, Melanie and Misty, create a mix of acoustic bluegrass music and old-time gospel singing.
Open house at Oak Street Chapel
There will be an open house at Oak Street Chapel to celebrate the centennial of the building from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with short sharing time at 2 p.m. with refreshments in the fellowship hall.
The church was originally built by Trinity Lutheran Church in 1904 and sold to Church of Christ in 1957. It has been Oak Street Chapel since 2000.
Upfront in concert
Upfront, a contemporary Christian music group from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights, will perform 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa after the church picnic, which runs 5 to 7 p.m.
The church is on Highways 371 and 13, one block east of Schaefer's at the stoplight, 11 miles north of Brainerd. Any questions, call 963-2564.
