20 years ago (1984)

The Brainerd Water and Light Board acted this week to approve a rate break for next summer. The action was taken to encourage lawn sprinkling to keep the grass green.

30 years ago (1974)

Brainerd merchants once again will be launching their annual Crazy Days promotion Friday and Saturday. A number of activities are planned. Free movies, dunking machine, Sweet Adelines singing and more.

40 years ago (1964)

Highway 25 to Merrifield is under construction. The highway will be widened and many of the curves taken out.

60 years ago (1944)

The total output of the Brainerd Canning Center since it's opening now totals 3,403 cans of food preserved. Approximately 156 persons have used the center for canning this season.

80 years ago (1924)

The Brainerd Country Club has an interesting tournament scheduled for Saturday, in which $10 worth of prizes, including a $5 golf bag are to be awarded.

100 years ago (1904)

F. Reid, of St. Mathias, brought in six of the finest steer and heifers this morning ever seen in Brainerd. He sold them to H. Baker.
